JoomlaXi Captcha 2.0

Swati Goyal , 07 March, 2010

We had great response from Joomla community over our First Generation of Captcha System. The basic problem with last version were dependency on Template Overrides and Compatibility with different versions of Joomla Component.
<div>
    We took problems in first generation system as a challenge to us, and
    now we are presenting a Next-Generation Robust Captcha System i.e.
    JoomlaXi Joomla Captcha (codename is XIJC). XIJC not only resolves the
    problem of previous versions, but also enable an administrator to use
    captcha, virtually on any page in Joomla. This way you can secure your
    non-standard pages, without digging into the code.
</div>
<div>
    <strong>Q : Will it work with any component or template
    ? </strong><br/>
    Yes, This next generation captcha system works with any component and
    any template across Joomla. Actually when you safeguard any page on
    your website, we monitor user activity on those pages. If user post any
    data on those pages, we intercept the request of user, and present him
    a Captcha Image to fill in. If he decode image correctly, we resume his
    request, which we intercepted. This way no data loss happens, and it
    becomes independent of Components and Templates.
</div>

<div>
    <strong>Q : Thats great </strong><strong>but how I can define
    which page to protect ?</strong><br/>
    The product was started as plugin, but now is a full flash component.
    So it is pretty simple to mention which page you want to protect or
    which you want to exclude. For this purpose we maintain three lists -
</div>

<ol style="color: #333333; font-family: Tahoma, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 15.800000190734863px;"><li>Black List : The pages you need to protect, should be added here.</li>

    <li>White List : The pages which are not to be protected, should be
    added here.</li>

    <li>Captcha Manager : This list enable protection on all pages of any
    component.</li>
</ol><div>

    {/webgallery}
</div>

<div>
    <strong>Q : Is it a Free Product ? </strong><br/>
    Yes, XIJC is absolutely free to use (Free means <em>Freedom to
    use</em> and <em>Free of Cost</em>). We have planned few
    supplementary functionality to be added in XIJC, These features will be
    paid features. We will announce once paid features are ready to use.
    But we promise that the base version will remain free of cost.
</div>

<div>
    <strong>Q : Why an alpha version released ?</strong><br/>
    We were working very hard to complete stable release, but currently we
    were not able to complete few basic functionalities, so once below
    mentioned  <em>work-in-progress</em> completes, we will
    release a stable version.
</div>

<ol style="color: #333333; font-family: Tahoma, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 15.800000190734863px;"><li>As if now, XIJC do not support protection of File Uploading pages.</li>

    <li>Look and feel (Css related issues)</li>

    <li>Not tested for all kind of servers and PHP versions</li>
</ol><div>
    <strong>Important :</strong> Do not use this version for your live
    sites. This product is released in Alpha version, purely for community
    feedback and testing. So as a policy, we will not support
    - <em>Support Issues of Alpha Versions on Live Sites</em>.
</div>

<div>
    So go ahead, and try it now.  And finally, we love the feedback so
    do not hesitate to comment.
